I see persons are throwing their hats in the ring for mayor...... Any thoughts? On who you'd vote for or why or why not one or the other.

Hornady should save herself the trouble and not even run.

Vavricek lead the move from property taxes ( a stable and level form of income) to sales taxes (very unstable). At the time everyone loved the idea of lower taxes but now as sales tax revenues are dropping we may be looking at the possibility of paying the sales tax AND higher property taxes.

I'm voting for the guy that lives at the Erin Rancho.

I am guessing that if maggie does throw her hat in it will be after some event where the council does something in a positive light. Untill then she'll lay low.
Meyer, will wait till maggie decides, or within a few days.
I don't know the name of the guy who has a "phd" in street life, but he will make any debte interesting.
As far as others, really havent' heard anything...

Who cares about his record now.

Whats happend to Due process, this newspaper is as bad as the national enquier (sp). Look at yazdi, splash it all over the paper and don't follow up on earlier reports. What a crock.

And more hats! That Hetrick/Arnold seat should be a wash. I think Arnold burned some bridges personally. Ziola replacing Rye is a good bet. Could almost be a decent Board once they oust
Lancaster. :rawk:

Could not agree more!!

Hornady did Grand Island a favor by not running for reelection. I think she has hurt this town more than she has helped it.

The worst that could happen if Vavricek gets back in is the possibility of Gary Greer being brought back into the picture. I know it is unlikely Greer will be rehired but Im just not willing to take that chance!!

BTW, what's the deal with the Lanfear Hubby/Wifey team running for County Board and Mayor? Seems reminisant of the Chuck and Joyce Haase takeover fiasco from a few years back. If she was Mayor and he was Countyboard chairman, how could they sign interlocal agreements?? Do they both need to live off of city AND county tax dollars?

I see they are both against closing College Street, but neither would have any decision on the matter in either position they seek. Except as Mayor, she could vote if there was a tie. But that's a longshot. Eventually that matter will be solved in favor of student safety, regardless of whether GISH expands their building that way or not. Just my two cents.

I can see how that might become a conflict of interest, but i could be wrong.
