The Bachman rally was today. I just watched the news and saw this, up front and prominantly displayed. Every single Republican that stood up with this today should be ashamed. I'm still waiting to hear of Adrian Smith joined his leaders, John Boehner and Eric Cantor, for this Rally that they called a press conference.

Because of the offensiveness of the photo, I'm only providing a link. But if you don't want to see it, its a picture of a pile of the dead in a mass grave, and above them it says: "National Socialist Health Care: Dachau, Germany – 1945".

http://thinkprogress.org/wp-content/upl ... 9/11/1.jpg

Keep in mind, this was an event sent up by the House Republican Leadership, not any outside group.

This is what the far right rhetoric has led to. Are we proud of this? :(

Oh, and check out how John Boehner quotes the Declaration of Independence and says he's quoting the Constitution.

more government officials showing their incompetence and one-sided agendas?!

When a democrat is president, he's an idiot but the Republicans are to blame. When a republican is president, he's an idiot but the Democrats are to blame. Same song, different verse every 4-8 years.

More on this official House GOP event:

Quote:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... on/columns

They came as directed, about 5,000 tea-party regulars and antiabortion activists, to the West Lawn of the Capitol on Thursday for what Bachmann called a "Super Bowl of Freedom," sponsored by Republican members of Congress. And what a game it was.

Many of the demonstrators chanted "Weasel Queen," their pet name for the speaker of the House. Others wore masks of Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.); they were covered in fake blood and carrying dolls representing aborted fetuses, as the Grim Reaper led them in chains to hell.

In the front of the protest, a sign showed President Obama in white coat, his face painted to look like the Joker. The sign, visible to the lawmakers as they looked into the cameras, carried a plea to "Stop Obamunism." A few steps farther was the guy holding a sign announcing "Obama takes his orders from the Rothchilds" [sic], accusing Obama of being part of a Jewish plot to introduce the antichrist.

But the best of Bachmann's recruits were a few rows into the crowd, holding aloft a pair of 5-by-8-foot banners proclaiming "National Socialist Healthcare, Dachau, Germany, 1945." Both banners showed close-up photographs of Holocaust victims, many of them children.

Immediately in front of this colorful scenery, various House Republicans signed autographs and shook hands with the demonstrators. Rep. Virginia Foxx (N.C.), who recently said the health-care bill is more dangerous than terrorists, gave out stickers saying "Govt Run Healthcare Makes Me Sick!"

"Who knew a casual comment on TV could generate this?" Rep. Jeb Hensarling (Tex.) exulted as he stood in front of the Dachau banner.

Now, objecting to the health-care bill is one thing. But doesn't it send the wrong message for House Republicans to hold an event on the Capitol grounds full of hateful and gruesome words and images?

"I'm not worried about the message of freedom," Hensarling replied, before joining his colleagues on the podium to the beat of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."

Technically, Thursday's GOP-sponsored rally at the Capitol was a "press conference" (a Capitol Police spokeswoman explained that the lawmakers didn't have a permit for a demonstration). The speakers took no questions at this news conference, instead calling, at least a dozen times, for the Pelosi bill's death.

"Remember some of the other battles: Lexington and Concord, Hamburger Hill, Pork Chop Hill?" said Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa). "We're not going to leave this hill until we kill this bill!"

"Who will kill this bill?" asked Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.). "You will!"

"Let's kill this bill," proposed Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio).

"This bill will be killed," agreed Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.).

But, as with a similar rally by Democrats a week before, unpredictable things tend to happen in the wide-open spaces of the Capitol's West Front. Minutes into the rally, a breeze toppled the American flag from the stage.

More ominously, a man standing just beyond the TV cameras apparently suffered a heart attack 20 minutes after event began. Medical personnel from the Capitol physician's office -- an entity that could, quite accurately, be labeled government-run health care -- rushed over, attaching electrodes to his chest and giving him oxygen and an IV drip.

This turned into an unwanted visual for the speakers, as a D.C. ambulance and firetruck, lights flashing, pulled in just behind the lawmakers. A path was made through the media section, and the patient, attended to by about 10 government medical personnel, was being wheeled away on a stretcher just as House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) stepped to the microphone. "Join us in defeating Pelosi care!" he exhorted. A few members stole a glance at the stretcher. Boehner may have been distracted as well. He told the crowd he would read from the Constitution, then read the "we hold these truths" bit from the Declaration of Independence.

As you'd expect at a political protest, the messages on signs and buttons were provocative: "Waterboard Congress," "A Commie Is in the House."

But this protest was unusual because it was an official House GOP event, and because some of the remarks on the stage were as outrageous as those in the crowd. The actor Jon Voight, standing with the lawmakers, said of Obama: "Could it be he has had 20 years of subconscious programming by Reverend Wright to damn America?"

Even the Rev. Stephen Broden, at the microphone to deliver the closing prayer, fumed about "death panels inside this death care," adding: "It is tyranny! It is socialism!"

The lawmakers set the tone early, when Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) asked for the Pledge of Allegiance because "it drives the liberals crazy" to hear the "under God" part (his bravado was premature, for he left out the word "indivisible"). The tone continued to the end, when Rep. John Carter (R-Tex.) beckoned to the House office buildings and shouted, "Go get 'em!" Some took him literally: Ten people were arrested at a sit-in at Pelosi's office in the Cannon Building, where they were crumpling up the health-care bill one page at a time.

By the time it was over, medics had administered government-run health care to at least five people in the crowd who were stricken as they denounced government-run health care. But Bachmann overlooked this irony as she said farewell to her recruits.

"You," she said, "are the most beautiful sight any of us freedom fighters have seen for a long time."

What is this country coming to and whatever happened to the Republican party that I actually used to respect. That is, before the fringe took over.......

hypocrites reporting on hypocrites......if that was government-run health care, then I can bet you that the people that needed treatment ended up with a bill and somehow I will play a part in paying for their services even though I wasn't there. Oh, and by the way, the writer of that article should be smart enough to know that America doesn't have government-run health care for the general population. So to quote Lisa,

Poker, the Capital Hill medical staff do no do bills. They respond to emergencies on the Capitol grounds and stabilize until the DC emergency responders arrive and take the patient away. They do not have bills they send later. They're completely funded by our taxpayer dollars. So the writer was correct - it is government ran and paid for health care from the Capitol medical staff. The bills kick in once the ambulance takes them away.

Except for Medicare and Medicaid.

Nothing more than the continued left wing loon talking points that all LISA's love. I'd like to have this guy do my taxes since, some how, he can get at least 10,000 to be "about 5,000".

And now Lisa would like us to believe she "actually used to respect" the Republican Party.-?? C'mon Lisa, you've already been exposed as an empty bag that is only satiated after being re-filled each day with more left wing, hate filled web sites.
You are beginning to remind me of Obama (I know, you find that complimentary), flailing about trying to get your bleeding heart, health care reform bill passed into law - never mind that the MAJORITY of American citizens want nothing to do with it.
This latest version from the House is nothing more than "more of the same" - a 1,990 page piece of crap that will NOT help American health care but most certainly will adversely impact the lives of all Americans.

This monstrosity you want us all to bend over and "accept" is going to cost the taxpayers a whopping $1.055 trillion over the next 10 years -- a price tag that will surely add more than "one dime to our deficits" and it will saddle future generations with massive debt. We all can quickly understand just how honest these Congressional buffoons are as their pledge to post the final language online for 72 hours before they vote has been rescinded and virtually NONE of'em will have read it prior to their vote.

At least they have one thing going for them - they have LISA's unwavering support. :itsok:

First off, I notice, Husk, you are completely avoiding the original post and reason for the topic - so you must support the great big picture of Dachau dead and think it's just fine. Otherwise, why avoid it?

Yeah. I did. I respect Chuck Hagel. I have always like Joe Scarborough. I even like Pat Buchanan. Why? Because they're all honest. They at least say what they believe, even if I don't always agree. The fringe that has take over their party could learn from them. But my mother and my materal grandparents are and were Republicans. Or were you just looking to insult again?

Well, Husk, you've already been exposed as an empty bag that is only satiated after being re-filled each day with more right-wing, hate filled web sites.

Yes, I do. Because the haters who have hated him from day one no matter what he did or said - you among them - just don't get it. I've learned people like you will never change. The rest of the country will still go on and keep moving forward dispite your attempts to do otherwise.

Quote:

Really? You're certain about that? Got facts?

In the mean time, here is the latest on the NBC/Wall Street Journal Poll that is regularly conducted:

According to the poll, 48% say they favor a public health plan administered by the federal government that would compete with private insurers, compared with 42% who oppose it. That's a shift from last month, though within the margin of error, when 48% opposed the public option and 46% supported it. And it's a 10-point swing from August, when 47% were in opposition and 43% were in favor.

In another question asked a different way -- is it important to give people a choice of a public option? -- a combined 72% answered that it was either "extremely important" or "quite important," while just 23% said it was "not that important" or "not at all important." Those numbers are virtually unchanged from last month.

The NBC/WSJ poll, which was conducted Oct. 22-25, has a margin of error of +/- 4.4%

This has been a trend for months now. It shows just how confused and uneducated people are about the issue. They've been told over and over to fear a public option. However, they still want the choice. So depending on how the question is asked, the results show that people, if not being subjected to the fear, go with definitely wanting reform, and wanting a public option available. But keep in mind, some of the people who fear the public option are the same ones who say they want the Government to keep their hands off their Medicare......go figure.

And also, for your information, a Nebraska specific poll:

Would you favor or oppose the government offering everyone a government administered health insurance plan -- something like the Medicare coverage that people 65 and older get -- that would compete with private health insurance plans?

    .....................FAVOR......OPPOSE.....NOT SURE
    ALL..................46.............44............10
    MEN................ 44 ............48............ 8
    WOMEN........... 48.............40........... 12
    DEMOCRATS..... 84............ 10............ 6
    REPUBLICANS ....22 ...........66 ...........12
    INDEPENDENTS.. 44............43 ............13
    18-29.............. 49........... 40 ............11
    30-44.............. 45........... 46 .............9
    45-59.............. 47 ...........43............ 10
    60+................. 44........... 47............. 9
    DISTRICT 1....... 47........... 41............ 12
    DISTRICT 2....... 52........... 40............. 8
    DISTRICT 3........39........... 51............ 10

What's fascinating is that Nebraska is so conservative and it shows its pretty evenly split.

Quote:

Well go yell at your Repubs. Their plan that they've promised for most of the year doesn't really cover anyone new, costs more and reduces the deficit less, while still keeping 52 million (in 10 years) uncovered. But one thing that is clear is doing nothing will be the worst option.

Oh, and by the way, I find it funny how people like you keep fixated (just like your Michelle Bachman and the Republican Leadership that led that rally/press conference with the Dachau sign) on the number of pages. If printed like the GPO does their printed version - which numbers every single line, double space to allow room for hand notes and changes, about 2 inch margins and a larger font - it can be long. But if printed up normally, with normal fonts and normal spacing like you see on THOMAS, the size is actually only a fraction of the size claimed.

HR 3962, which is the House's combined version they will be debating and voting on, has a GPO version that is a PDF file of 1990 pages. However, when you just go in to print the bill normally, it's 388 pages. No....that's not a typo. 388 pages. Just go to THOMAS and check it out for yourself.

But hey.....it's a Republican talking point they love to use and the followers eat it up.

What is the fascination by the Rush Limbaugh devotees to that back area of the human anatomy? It's creepy.

Quote:

Actually, the CBO estimates at the end of 10 years, the deficit will have been reduced by $104 Billion under the Democratic plan. Compare that to 7 years of war spending under Bush that had a spending deficit of close to $2 Trillion (yes, that's right, deficit spending). So...we'll save money doing this.

Quote:

Actually, the most current version that the House is going to vote on has been on-line since October 27th. Haven't seen it yet? Also, the talking point the Republican have used - the "they don't read it" line - can be applied to them since they make claim after claim of things that are clearly provable aren't in the bill, proving they didn't read it. Finally, throughout this process, even though the original 5 bills were changing on a regular basis, those changes were immediately available and the bills updated on a daily basis on the various committee websites, and centrally, on THOMAS (the legislative website). Are you not able to see any of them? Would you even actually understand the legislative language? Because to really read it, you have to go to the existing law that is being changed, read that, then the changes or additions to get the full understanding of the change.

They have my support. Unwavering is what the Rush and teabagging masses can use to politely apply to themselves.

That poster is why I generally hide my opposition to the healthcare bills currently being proposed. So many of the opponents are completely nuts. Using a photo of hundreds of murder victims is completely wrong no matter what the other posters in this thread think.

That must be the reason we never saw any posts from the LISA's of the world reflecting their 'disgust' with those posters saying "Kill Bush" or those articles/books on how to assassinate him-??

Or all of the other posters that people carried with Bush made out to be the Joker, Hitler, the Devil, and more "offensive" people. But I am sure that Lisa felt those signs were just fine. She stated in another thread how she would have jumped over a Dem for an "inappropriate" comment, but I guess that does not mean if it was directed at an "unbeliever".

And yes Lisa, I did find that poster tasteless.

Lisa, you also used stats again and then tried to call those facts. A survey/poll, no matter who does it, is not fact. It shows a sampling, and those responses are generally manipulated by the questions themselves.

Sort of like a weather poll. It could 80 degrees in Phoenix. That would be a fact. But if a poll went around and asked 100 people whether or not they thought it was hot, and 65% said it was not hot, and 35% did say it was hot, would not mean the fact is that it is "not hot" in Phoenix that day.

Here Anita (Lisa), I have some. According to CNN's poll, and you know they are not a bastion of right wing propaganda, has it at 45 percent support President Barack Obama's proposals to reform health care, with 53 percent opposed to his plans. Meanwhile, you quote a poll by NBC, whose owner, GE, has their CEO serving as an economic advisor to Obama (imagine your rage had Ailes done similar with Bush!), while NBC gives Obama favorable coverage, and the cable arm, MSNBC, actually provides cover for Obama. You Anita (Lisa), are a lacky for the Obama administration, much like Olbermann. You have to be on their payroll. If not, you should ask for compensation. It might go a long way to help you with your health care costs.
Lisa wrote:

Nope. The actual trend is that support is waning, as the CNN poll shows.
Lisa wrote:

And just who's fault is that? Which party has the support of the lame stream media? Which party controls Congress? And, most importantly, which party holds the bully pulpit? Face it Lisa, your party has been unsuccessful in convincing the majority that their plan will be better than the status quo. So much so, that the Democrats in the House, are panicking, and are trying to ram a vote on their bill through this weekend.

First, what does the GOP bill have to do with the House bill your Democrats put out? Second, you know that no matter how good or bad the GOP bill is, your Democrats will never give it the time of day. Imagine if the roles were reversed. Would you stand for that? Nevermind. That is, of course, a rhetorical question.

Wow. Just wow. Such pathetic excuse making. Do you also work as a staff writer for Olbermann? That sounds like the same crap he spews in defense of Obama and the Democrats on a nightly basis.

Why? They are adding amendments to it probably as I write. They have to. In order to garner DEMOCRAT support. You know they won't amend anything to garner GOP support, right Anita (Lisa)?

That must be the reason we never saw any posts from the LISA's of the world reflecting their 'disgust' with those posters saying "Kill Bush" or those articles/books on how to assassinate him-??
Yep. Nothing more ineffective as feigned indignation from hypocrites like Anita (Lisa).

Much like Olbermann's antics on a nightly basis.

Sad but true, I haven't watched more than snippets of Olbermann in the last 6 months.
I still like his "Worst Person in the World" segment, but the rest of his broadcast has become overly partisan & petty.
(yes, even to this moderate Democrat  )

Why not-?? I thought tasteless signs were the topic-?? When the LISA's of the world, or you for that matter, can express the same indignation over the posters I mentioned then maybe you and the LISA's can be taken seriously.
