Perhaps some changes to the way the BigXII schedules their confernce games.

I kind of like the idea of the every other year proposal, but I also like the propasal that would have NU-OU every year too.

But then maybe nothing will come of it anyway.

Neb - OU game should be played every year! It was one of greatest rivalries in all of sports and destroyed because of TEXASS and B12! We should have held firm like Michigan - Ohio or Tenn - Florida!! Why were those games kept regardless of their conference schedules? Well it was because the teams involved REFUSED to be dictated to by their conferences! We on the other hand CAVED in to the demands of Texas... They wanted to make sure all the LUSTER of the big game was shined on them... not Nebraska. Damn shame OU and Neb didn't have the guts to tell the B12 they were not giving up that game.

I see nothing Neb gained joining the B12! We had a great conference and could have added 2 more teams to balance things out. We DID NOT NEED ANY of the TEXASS teams! Can't see how it did ANYTHING for Neb except relegate us to become a poor step child of Texas............... :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh:

Interesting ideas, but they really don't benefit the State of TX, now do they?

Wonder how that's going to work out...hmmmm....

And don't blame just Texas in this mess. The vote was 11-1. Payback for beating their asses.

Here is what I find most telling about the Big XII:
Quote:
Big 12 athletic directors will discuss possible changes to the league`s current football scheduling model when they meet in New York in December and again at league meetings next spring.

What? Which conference school is located in New York? Why do they have to go to New York to have a meeting? Chicago is much closer, but Kansas City is in the conference, so is Omaha, Dallas, and Denver. I am also sure it is much cheaper to go to a closer city, and I am sure the expenses (hotel, meals, etc) would be a lot less by staying in conference.

If the leaders of the conference schools are not smart enough to figure that out, then how will they ever figure out the conference scheduling?

I would suggest expansion. Bring in Utah and Boise in the north, and Houston and New Mexico (or Arkansas) in the south. Play the other 7 teams in your division and ONE (Either traditional or rotational) from the other division. It would lessen the chances of a rematch from 50% to less than 13%. We already have "Big 16" copyrighted (Or did when the league was formed) why not use it?

  I'd go for that.... Make things more interesting and bring in some new blood. Boise would be a good addition but I'd hate to play them at home! That BLUE field with those BLUE jersey's really bother me..... I do not think that's an accident either!

I say the heck with expansion. Boot the Texas schools, they can reform the SWC.

We invite 2 from a group of schools, say, (Iowa, Colorado St, Arkansas, Tulsa).

We have a 10 team conference, everyone plays everyone just like the PAC 10.

No crap from the Texas schools, no stupid conference championship game, and most importantly...........Cornhuskers vs. Sooners EVERY YEAR!

Speaking of schedules, Nebraska's not above doing a little ducking for 2011.
Thank you, BcS.

Interesting article. I like BSU, not sure about the field, but I like them. I think they would be a great addition to the Big XII. The one problem I did have with the article though:
Quote:
And, lo and behold, guess which major conference school happens to have an open date? How about Harvey Perlman’s Nebraska, the one-time powerhouse which could use all the big attention grabbing games it can get these days?

Their open date is on September 3rd, 2001. Our first game is September 10th, 2011.

We already have Fresno State (home), Washington (home), and Wyoming (away) for the OOC. To me, even being in AZ, that is a little heavy on the West Coast teams. How about a game against someone back east, to also get that viewership, hopefully get into the homes of a few recruits back east. Maybe a game against a team in the Ohio-Penn-New York area? Or maybe down South.

This year all of our OOC schedule was teams from the South. We can thank good ol "he who must not be named" for that one. But I think scheduling is a little different than just finding teams with open dates. You usually want to get some teams in areas where you are heavily recruiting, to get teams who play a similar style as what you will see in the conference, you also want to get good match ups without giving up too much leverage. I think it would be great to play Boise St, but not so sure about 2011, the first game. I think that the open date we have in 2011 should go against a team from back East.

So do we know who turned down Boise State?
