Total ticket sales, if you are a season ticket holder and you elect not to attend, your ticket still counts as a sale or you attended that game.

I was just at a hockey game in Kearney and the attendance was disappointing. The product, however, was not that good either.

If you want people to keep coming back, you must not only put a good product on the ice, but you must do more in promotion off the ice and between periods. You need to discount beer and other items. Get a reason to get people to come there.

In Grand Island, you have a bigger population base and, quite frankly, a nicer facility which is not being utilized to its potential.

Is there any chance of indoor football coming in?

I'm not so sure GI and Kearney's populations are much alike at all. I think the Kearney population is more willing to spend money for a night out; I think in GI a night out is more of a "burger night" mentality. Not for everyone of course, but that's my impression.

It looks like the FirsTier Center is catering to those willing to fork out bigger bucks for bigger name events. Just look at their site and what they are adding with prices in the $30, $40 and $50 range, CATS and Sugarland. I don't know if the bodies will materialize to fill seats but I'm at least impressed that they are able to bring in a variety. It almost seems as if the HEC and the FirsTier have some sort of agreement going on with Kearney reaping the entertainment and GI the routine trade shows. What's the plan for the HEC? Just move the dull events from the Fonner concourse into the HEC arena and call it good? Man, I hope not.

No, I think its called better management on the FEC's part along with management willing to take chances on a wide variety of events for all different ages. The HEC has way too many CHEIFS and not enough indians. It's time for the CHEIFS to swallow a little pride and start thinking outside their little box. Maybe start with hiring an event center manager that has experience in this sort of business along with having a seperate board.
